System Tray (Windows)
On Windows, DearScenario Player integrates with the system tray (notification area) for quick access to common operations without bringing the window to focus.
Features
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Tray icon | Shows the DearScenario Player logo in the notification area. |
| Tooltip | Displays the device alias or application name. |
| Context menu | Right-click for quick actions. |
| Reset UI Layout | Restores the debug panel layout to defaults. |
Tray menu
Right-clicking the tray icon shows a context menu:
| Menu item | Action |
|---|---|
| Show | Brings the player window to the foreground. |
| Open Logs Folder | Opens the active application log directory. |
| Open Crash Dumps Folder | Opens <exe_dir>\logs\crash-dumps\. |
| Create Diagnostic Package | Creates a ZIP with redacted diagnostics, logs, and recent crash files. |
| Reset UI Layout | Resets ImGui window positions and sizes to defaults. |
| Quit | Requests a normal player shutdown. |
The "Reset UI Layout" item is useful when debug panel windows have been
dragged off-screen or the layout becomes cluttered. Restart the player after
using this action to see the default layout. You can also start the player with
--reset-ui and your usual launch arguments. Layout reset is a local operation;
there is no HTTP layout-reset command.
Tooltip
The tray tooltip updates dynamically to show the device alias (if configured) or the application name. This helps identify which player is running when multiple instances are deployed on the same machine.
{
"alias": "Lobby Display 01"
}With the above config, the tooltip reads Lobby Display 01.
Limitations
- Windows only. The system tray integration is not available on Linux or
macOS. On those platforms, use
--reset-uiat startup for layout recovery. - The tray icon requires a running window message pump. In headless deployments without a desktop session, the tray is not available.
API alternative
A Maintenance process can be closed through the HTTP API:
# Request quit
curl -X POST http://<player-ip>:18290/api/maintenance/command -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"cmd":"app_quit","params":{}}'See Command Reference for the full command list.
