Download & Install
This page covers installation for the supported platforms: Windows and Raspberry Pi.
Windows
Windows portable build
- Extract the ZIP package.
- Place it in a stable path such as
C:\DearScenarioPlayer\. - Avoid paths with spaces or unusual Unicode characters.
- Right-click
fix-firewall.cmdand run as administrator (allows inbound TCP/UDP for this folder'sdearscenario-player.exeon Public and Private networks). - Run
dearscenario-player.exe; if Windows Firewall still prompts, allow access. - Copy a prepared
config.jsoninto the extracted directory when required. See Configuration Reference.
The Windows installer Setup configures the same firewall rules automatically.
Portable ZIP does not — use fix-firewall.cmd once per extract location
(re-run after moving the folder; use remove-firewall.cmd before deleting an
old extract). Configure auto-start through your deployment tooling when needed
(Task Scheduler, a service wrapper, or managed policy).
Verify integrity
Compare the published .sha256 file with the downloaded ZIP before deploying
to an offline or production machine.
First launch
- A console window appears briefly, then the player window opens.
- The Web Console should be reachable from the local network.
- If LAN control fails on a fresh portable extract, run
fix-firewall.cmdas administrator (see above). The same repair applies if you earlier clicked Cancel on the Windows Firewall prompt or allowed Private only. - Load a media file to confirm playback works.
Raspberry Pi
DEB package
sudo apt install ./dearscenario-player_1.0.0_arm64.debAfter installation, launch the player with:
dearscenario-playerFirst launch
On first run, the player opens in fullscreen. The Web Console is available at:
http://<pi-ip>:18290For Lite vs Desktop, systemd/DRM notes, hardware decode, and go-live checks, see Raspberry Pi Deployment. Also configure the control network before relying on remote control.
